The departmental has a Library that can accommodate 10 students at a time. It has physical books and a data base of offline books and journal articles. With the computer systems available students can access the data bases the University has subscribed to.
The curriculum includes assignments, classwork, engineering workshop activities, laboratory practical, report writing and presentations, projects, and visits to relevant industries and locations. These components provide students with hands-on experience, enhance their practical skills, and expose them to real-world applications of knowledge gained.
There is synergy between the department and Technical and Entrepreneurship Centre (TEC), University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. This centre teaches students how to be innovative.
Students of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering conduct research in a variety of areas, including agricultural machinery design and testing, soil and water conservation engineering, irrigation and drainage systems, bioenergy and biofuels, food processing and storage engineering, greenhouse climate and energy simulation, agricultural waste management, and agrometeorology. They also focus on post-harvest technology, environmental control systems, renewable energy applications in agriculture, robotics and automation in agriculture, aquaculture systems, livestock housing and management, sustainable agricultural practices, and the impact of climate change and adaptation in agriculture. These diverse research topics reflect the multidisciplinary nature of the field and address a wide range of challenges and opportunities in agriculture and environmental management.
